I am sorry to hear this sad news about the lovely Boolie, Vera. Thinking of you and Lester. Xx

Vera said...

JESSICA, thank you for the virtual hugs, they are much appreciated at this time.Vx

DENISE, he was with us for so many years, from way back in the Isle of Sheppey days, then on to High Wycombe, and then on to France, so he has been with us a large chunk of our lives. He does leave a huge hole. Vx

Oh, what terrible news. I´m so sorry. All my sympathy.

So sorry to here he has crossed rainbow bridge, {{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you both, I hope over time the emptiness he has left will over time be lessened, he has had a fantastic life and some great adventures

COCO, thanks, ......we miss him, but at least he is not having to cope with ill health any more.

DAWN, I think his best years were his last nine years here in France. He was with us all the time and there was always something to do, which is why he lived for so many years I think. Thanks.

I probably know how you feel; it's such a wrench losing a well loved dog. I feel quite emotional. Best wishes x.

Sorry for your loss. May his soul rest in peace; may God strenghten you and Lester in this time of grief!

OHIOFARMGIRL, he had been ill for some time, which still did not prepare us for the hole he has left in our lives. He did have the best of lives with us though, and for that I am glad. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

CRO MAGNON, bless you, and thanks. Animals, especially dogs, do tug at the heart strings, that is for sure.

DUTA, at least he does not have to endure declining health any more and can now be at peace. Thanks.

So sorry to hear this sad news Vera. It is so hard when we lose a beloved pet(for me anyway) that when they cross the rainbow bridge they are like the puppy they once were and playing with many other dogs that crossed before him.

A sad time for you both. It is a price we must pay for all the devotion given and taken. A difficult grief to understand for those who have not lost a beloved animal friend.
Your other doggies will be Sad for you too.

So sorry for your loss

So sorry Vera, he had a good innings but knowing that never makes it any easier, you will miss him so much after all that time together. Our own loss is still very raw so I know just how you feel.
Thinking of you. Never let anyone even try to say it was only a dog, rather a dog than some family members for me.

Used this several times at similar circumstances.....with myself and others

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
But when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie--
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years that nature permits
Are closing in asthma or tumors or fits
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers, or loaded guns.
Then you will find--its your own affair
But--you've given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will
When the whimper of welcome is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone--wherever it goes--for good,
You still discover how much you care
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We've sorrow enough in the natural way
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em the more do we grieve;
For when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short time loan is as bad as a long--
So why in Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

If you can't find the words, don't try... the picture is enough...
RIP Boolie... keep the happy and silly times in focus, not the end!
Especially the silly... Boolie is "spangle" after all!!
And, should you get another "spangle" in future years...
we are fortunate that no two dogs or cats are alike...
so the Boolie memories will never be erased!
